Capable, competent, curious, and rich in potential; this is how the Regional Municipality of Durham sees children. We work with children, their families, and educators to create high quality programs that focus on strengths. We are all co-learners. Licensed high quality early learning and child care program operated by the Regional Municipality of Durham, following legislated guidance and assessment for quality indicators. Our ELCC programs provide positive and healthy settings for all children play-based, emergent curriculum in accordance with How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years.
Future Northglen Orchard ELCC Site Update: The Region of Durham and Children's Services Department are currently working with Kawartha Pine Ridge School Board to determine an updated timeline of construction and completion of the Northglen Orchard Public School. On April 10, 2025 KPR announced a construction delay impacting the previously projected opening of September 2025. The KPR school board has announced a contingency plan and child care will be offered at the Charles Bowman and Harold Longworth public schools until the Northglen Orchard Public School opens. At this time, we do not have a firm date of when the school or child care centre will open. Once we have more information families who are registered on the Northglen Orchard ELCC waitlist will be notified.
