Water Billing ends customer self assessment (TeleRead) water meter reading program


In March, Durham Region reached a significant milestone moving from the customer self-assessment (TeleRead) water meter card program to full water meter readings by our Meter Readers staff.

Thanks to the work of the Finance team, radio frequency (RF) readers offer modernized water reading capabilities, enabling us to collect accurate water usage data without entering homes.

The decrease in estimated water bills will help identify plumbing issues sooner, reducing high bills; ultimately saving customers money, improving customer service and preventing water loss.
